Almost time to update the
ferry faq for the impending demise of NY Waterway, which the Edgewater council contracted to provide service between the Grand Cove Marina and Manhattan. The company is having cash flow problems and just gave 60-day WARN notice to its employees.
The Hudson County Improvement Authority (HCIA) intends to acquire the company posthaste and Weehawken, Jersey City, and Hoboken plan to operate it. No idea how this affects Edgewater, but I'm sure the council discussed it at its closed-door session last night. They'll probably put the contract out to bid again.
Anyone with actual info is encourage to chime in. In the meantime, I've attached one of many articles on the matter.
