Celebrate the transition!

"History in the making", said the news announcer a minute ago. And it truly is, in so many ways, as we are now only a few hours away from the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of these United States.

Whatever your political persuasion, however you may have voted in the November election, we believe all can join in celebrating another peaceful transition of power from one party, one administration, one set of political viewpoints to another. We believe it demonstrates once again the strength, wisdom and resiliency of the ongoing U.S. experiment in governance of, by and for the people.

It is profoundly in the self interest of all that the administration of President Barack Obama act wisely and decisively to address and resolve the issues of crisis proportion confronting the U.S. and the world as he enters office. And it is profoundly in our self interest that we all remain involved, rolling up our sleeves in service, voicing our support and sharing our reasoned criticism and recommendations. As our very-soon-to-be new president has said repeatedly, "It's not about me, it's about all of us together."

I didn't and won't, watch one iota of this first day of Armageddon.
