Exclamation Petition to Use HESS site for Public Works NOT High-Rises

Hi friends neighbors and concernced citizens!

On Sept 12th, The town zoning board will re-hear the developer Thom Ammirato (615 River Road Partners) on his plan to use the HESS site in Edgewater for MASSIVE residential towers. The site is located next to the Sojo and the resulting towers will block views, congest roads and add 3,000+ new residents to our town without supporting infrastructure. The origional plan was blocked but he is trying again.

However, Edgewater township has already raised the funds to purchase the lands for public works which would: Support the current residents, add parks and recreation and add parking. We hope they may even think about adding a school!

Please sign the petition I just created and plan to send to the zoing board after I've circulated it and gotten more signatures.

Please send this to anyone in the town, or who you think might be interested in stopping this push to support developers' pockets over residents' needs. Please also consider attending this important zoning board meeting on Sept 12th - 7pm @ Borough Hall (55 River Road)!

PLEASE SIGN HERE:

Re: Petition to Use HESS site for Public Works NOT High-Rises

[SIZE="3"]First of all the town has not raised the funds to buy the site. The site is not for sale and the borough will have to go through a lengthy and expensive condemnation process, which will cost millions of taxpayer dollars. The council so far voted only to BORROW, some money to begin condemnation of the Hess site. The bond ordinance needs to have a second reading. The money the borough is planning on borrowing is nowhere near enough to purchase of the Hess property. Secondly, do you really think McPartland is going to keep this incredibly valuable property out of the hands of Daibes forever? Are the mayor and council going to turn away millions of dollars in tax revenue to build a public works garage on the riverfront on property that is worth Millions? Are we expected to believe this?

if uncle freddy bought the property it would be built on already, its just a delay so he can sell his condo's first. it will end up in his pocket soon.

I tend to agree with you, and thats why its sooo important that people send a message to the zoning board and the mayor that we are serious about public use and needs.

Mayor walking away from $12 million revenue

The mayor may not think the town can use an infusion of $12 million in revenue, but I sure would like it. Does anyone really know what's going on here? A DPW garage with a view of the Manhattan skyline - is that really a benefit to the town?

Re: Petition to Use HESS site for Public Works NOT High-Rises

Has everyone received the postcards in the mail from the developer of the Hess property? I went to their website, it looks like they have a decent project despite what the mayor says
