Re: Notes Around the Borough

We note there has been no further progress in complying with Borough Code 1393-2008 on the abandoned construction site on Edgewater Place. We have called this to the attention of the Construction Official, the Mayor, the Borough Administrator, the Borough Council...most recently with the Mayor and Council two weeks ago.

Re: Notes Around the Borough

Well, looks like a 6 foot high fence on the north side now. We continue to marvel at how folks (contractors, owners, construction official, etc.) are determined to thumb their noses at borough ordinances, even when making partial efforts to comply. Is it really that much harder to put up an 8 foot fence than a 6 foot one, as long as one is doing it? Sort of like, "but officer, I was partially complying with the speed limit; I was only going 60 in a 40 mph zone, rather than 80".

Re: Notes Around the Borough

What fun to celebrate the birthday of the Borough at the Mayor and Town Council meeting, December 7, 2009!!!!

We were reading in the "A History of the Borough of Edgewater", Centennial Edition by Lynn Fox . On page 39, Here is an excerpt......

" Until 1871 the territory that is now known as Edgewater was part of the ancient Township of Hackensack. In that year an act erected the Township of Ridgefield, which included the current municipalities of Bogota, Cliffside Park, Fairview, Fort Lee, Leonia, Palisades Park, as well as Ridgefield and Edgewater. In 1893 an attempt was made to form a borough including all that territory. It failed and Edgewater was incorporated on December 7, 1894 as the Borough of Undercliff. In 1899 the name changed to Edgewater because another town in Bergen County was called Undercliff..........The first publically held meeting of town council took place on February 26, 1895, at the Fort Lee & Riverside Ferry Company building........."

We've asked Mike to post one of the pictures we sent to him so you may share in the evening.
