Re: Gubernatorial debate

Now, what about our local candidate debates? In the Independents' piece, I believe it states that there will be three debates. Have the Dems accepted? Can any date be confirmed? I would be very interested in seeing this come to fruition this year.

I'd like to see this, too. Unfortunately, I believe the Dems would have to be dragged in kicking and screaming.

Re: Local candidate debates

I would suggest that anyone interested to personally call all the candidates asking for a debate. The public has a right to know who really cares about protecting Edgewater residents and this can only be achieved through open, honest, and respectful dialogue.

If the Dems run and hide as they've done in the past, if they choose to again embarrass the League of Women Voters by lying regarding their participation and then pulling a no-show, if they continue to only care for cocktails attended by developers and Borough vendors who line their campaign coffers, well, then perhaps they HAVE already told you all you need to know.

Call your local representatives and candidates and demand answers. Call campaign managers. In fact, call the mayor and ask that she support the debates. Last time I checked America was still a democracy, and open debate is the foundation on which this great country was built upon.

I'm with you... we're familiar with their track record.

Re: Local candidate debates

Dani, please read today's issue of the Edgewater View, as the Independent Coalition Pledge is printed in its entirety. We are for the residents of Edgewater, and not continuing to promote cozy relationships between the developers and the majority council democrats that only care about lining their campaign coffers. It's been widely reported that pay-to-play is a big problem in all of NJ; let's start by correcting the issue here in Edgewater.

There is only one clear choice for POSITIVE change in Edgewater (not, avoiding debates that educate residents, not 20 year old contaminated sites, not increasing traffic, not more over-development, not higher taxes, not poor fiscal management that have put our town in debt, not lies about the ferry, and no more promises made and promises broken), and that is the Independent Coalition for a Better Edgewater.

On November 8th, vote pro-Edgewater; vote Gallegher-Robbio, vote COLUMN 3.

Re: Local candidate debates

Okay Beatrice. I am waiting to hear what some of those positive changes are. What I have seen so far is a lot of finger pointing from you, but little notion of what you propose to do to make things better. What is your platform? Positive planks please!

Re: Local candidate debates

Read the literature and the papers.

Or even better, ask for a debate.

Re: Local candidate debates

You seem to be more than willing to campaign here, so I don't understand your reluctance to state your platform. You are the candidate and you should be more than willing to state your positions. I should not have to search for them when you have chosen to take the bully pulpit here. You have been more than willing to make innuendos about others but you won't declare yourself or your position here? Why is that?

Re: Local candidate debates

I am still waiting Beatrice. Your platform? Your goals? These are things most reasonable voters would like to know...

Re: Local candidate debates

"reasonable".

There was a post here by you a few weeks ago so filled with vitriol that the administrator actually took it down.

You have proven to be anything but reasonable, either on this or the other board. You have an agenda and you are driven by blind, bilious ire. Such a shame. I never chose to be your enemy, just a good neighbor and volunteer for a common cause. We started out that way, remember?

Denis and I need to focus on people who want a better community. You have proven beyond a doubt that you are not one of those people.

I wish you well, and may you find peace.
